Christmas 2007
After carving my first piece of soapstone in 2007 (an angel carved from Quebec stone) I decided to start a bigger carving project: a Nativity Scene for my future grandchildren.
By Christmas I had the basics finished: Baby Jesus and Mary (Utah orange alabaster), Josef (Brazilian soapstone), 1 wiseman and 1 shepherd (Italian soapstone), Angel (Italian white alabaster), manger (Quebec soapstone).
The tallest of the figurines, the angel, is a little over 6 inches tall.

Christmas 2008
For Christmas 2008 I added the first animals: a donkey (Brazilian soapspstone), a sheep (Italian alabaster) an ox (soapstone from Atlin, BC)
I establish the rule that I will add at least one figurine per Christmas until I have a grandchild. Could become quite a big nativity scene!

First Christmas in my new house in Burns Lake. Two wisemen are added: one carved of Chinese soapstone and one of dendritic Montana soapstone.
Christmas 2010
A palm tree (Italian and Brazilian soapstone) and a camel (Brazilian soapstone) are joining the nativity scene this year.
Christmas 2011
No grandchildren in sight....
I finally built a little stable for the figurines.
A new shepherd, three sheep (Brazilian soapstone) and one goat (BC black chlorite) are added.
